FAQ
Why is the tots class only 1 hour per day?
With this age group, we likely only get about 30 minutes of their attention when it comes to the tennis aspect. However, Coach Kelly has a creative way of teaching tennis skills in a way that keep the tots engaged and having fun.
Can I drop off my child early to camp?
Yes. Coaches will be early setting up equipment and preparing for the day. If your child is age 6 or above, we don’t mind if the kids are dropped off a little early. However, we must be notified ahead of time. Do not EVER leave the kids without speaking to an instructor or director. No more than 20 minutes early will be the threshold.
Are the coaches trained to work with children?
Yes, all of our coaches undergo training as staff and must also complete the Safesport Protocol which is a course required by the USTA Net Generation program.
Why can't the 6 or 7 year olds do the full day camp?
In our experience with camps in the past summers, players under the age of 8 tend to get really tired and disengage by noon. This is understandable as the camps are very active and it’s in the summer heat. We feel that it is in everyone’s best interest to have keep the age threshold to 8 and up for full day.
What if my child really enjoys tennis? Are there any school year options?
Yes. As part of joining the camp, you will receive information about our school year program at the different locations! NATA is a fully developmental tennis academy.
What should my child bring to camp?
Terrell Mill: As it is a 3 hour camp, players should bring the following items daily:
- Tennis Racket
- Refillable water bottle that holds ice.
- A mid-camp snack for our 30 minute break.
- Plenty of sunblock, with some already applied before arriving.
- Hat or visor.
Riverside:
For half day campers, bring what is required of the Terrell Mill campers above. For full day: add the following..
- A lunch
- A second snack
- Sports drink
- Swimsuit/towel
- Shoes for pool deck
- A bag to keep it all in
What about inclement weather like rain?
Sometimes we will have days where the storms will not let up. On these days, we will cancel camp and campers may make up the days any time during the rest of the Summer while camps are still in session. If coaches feel that things may dry, they may still have players arrive regardless of the rain. There will be clear communication in these circumstances.
